Buena Vista County
Sheriff's Reserves
After a long
and rigorous period of training the nine new reserve deputies were sworn
in on June 6th.
Friends and family, deputies and the
senior reservist gathered in the Courtroom where Sheriff Eddy swore in the
nine new deputies with a small reception afterward. "The reserves have
worked hard to achieve their certification and are certainly a dedicated
group of people.
The reserves furnish their own
equipment and bullet proof vests with the gracious help from many good
people and businesses in Buena Vista County. To outfit each reserve cost being nearly $1600.00
each.

Storm Lake
American Legion donates
$1092.

The Storm Lake American Legion
donates $1092 to the Buena Vista County Sheriff's Reserves to purchase
two bulletproof vests. A check was presented to Reserve Leader Kevin
McKinney by John Fitchett and Jack Anderson. The Reserves want to
thank all that have donated to them. |
Northwest One. Inc. donates to BV County
Sheriff’s Reserve Unit.
Northwest One, Inc., (Northwest
Internet Services), recently donated $546 to the BV Sheriff’s Reserve Unit
to be used toward the purchase of a bulletproof vest for one of its
Reserve Deputies who also works for Northwest. Mike White is the Technical
Support Manager, supervising the Internet and networking staff. Mike also
volunteers for the BV Sheriff’s Reserve Unit and is a Marathon resident.
The duties of the reserves are the
same as the full time deputies, which include patrolling, traffic
enforcement, accident investigation, criminal investigations and assisting
area law enforcement agencies whenever needed. Extra duties include
special events such as Balloon Days, Thresherman’s, Ragabrai, Buena Vista
County Fair, Marathon to Marathon and other events throughout the year.
Volunteers do this because they want to make a difference and offer help
to the citizens of BV County at no additional cost to the taxpayers.

Community State Bank in Albert City donates to
BV County Sheriff’s Reserve Unit.
Former Sheriff
Eddy and Reserve Deputy Mike White accept a donation from Chris
Nielsen of Community State Bank in Albert City. Community State Bank of
Albert City and Marathon donated the full cost of one bulletproof vest of
$546.00 to the Buena Vista Co. Reserve Deputies. The Reserve Deputies are
trying to raise funds to help offset the cost of
nine bulletproof vests which each of the reserves are required to wear
while volunteering their time to the sheriff's office and the citizens of
Buena Vista County. The reserves furnish their own equipment and gear
personally with the total cost being nearly $1600.00 each. The reserve
unit currently consists of five members with nine new reserve deputies to
be sworn in
within the next couple of months once their training is completed and
equipment and gear is obtained.
